Welcome Tucker! I should be shooting you a PM shortly, but lets get you started with the first lesson!

Attend @ATuckerMorin The lesson has now begun. You may take your time in your replies, and it is highly recommended you do so. While I will watch this, I expect a formal @Arie once completed so that I can post the next part of the lesson. Feel free to go back and edit your post as you find your answers, which is also strongly recommended.

Part One: The White Tower

1) What are members of the WT/Warders expected to do?
2) What is the Code of Conduct, and how does it apply to you?
3) What in the heck does PG13 mean?
4) What is Thread-Hijacking and Spam, and what is the general policy of the WT/Warders regarding that?

I know there is a proper response to the call to attend, but I have totally forgotten. Good to met you Arie, thanks for being my mentor.

1) What are the members of the WT/Warders expected to do?

Answer)

In one word serve. Aie Sedi means "servant of all" and warders serve the Aei Sedi. The WT/Warders first serve each other in the tower. We are a social group and hould treat each other like family. Having such an organized and service centered group can also be a great asset to Dragonmount as a whole. And in order to really serve all we need to reach outside of the WT. But not so manipulative as in the books.

Their may be, but it amuses me to use more formal language in 'formal' settings. ^.^

Indubitably Arie Sedi. One of the things that drew me to the WT/Warders is that there are formal aspects.

2) What is the code of conduct and how does it apply to you?

Answer)

The code of conduct has several aspects:

Hate speech is not tolerated period!

Other inappropriate language such as words that are angry, crude, or curse words are also not allowed. If it is not said in the books, don't say it.

No one should specifically target another member of DM in a negative way.

Anyone can "bump" an old discussion, just be very careful and don't do it very often.

If someone wishes to post about something outside of DM there is a specific off topic forum. Only post once in this forum.

A signature violation is not a big deal, but you will be expected to change the mistake.

(I personally don't really know what these signatures are.)

Any vagueness in the CoC will be resolved by the administrators.

The CoC is enforced using a three point system. Once three points are received a member will be permanently banned from DM and have their account deleted.

What it means to me is that DM is a safe and fun place to enjoy the WoT. In a nutshell, don't be a jerk. I have a responsibility to not ruin anybody else's experience and I can count on the other people on DM to not ruin mine.

Do I have to ask anyone to change my profile picture on DM?

Nope, you should be able to edit your profile image on your own. There are two ways to get to where you can edit your avatar. Click on your avatar and it will take you to your profile, and there will be an button labeled "profile image" where your avatar would be. Click it and upload as needed.

Lemmie know if that helps!

Aie Sedi

It's Aes Sedai 😛

Welcome to the White Tower and Warders, and have fun with Arie's class! I'll also pop in and answer questions if needed. Basically because I like to hang out from the ceiling eavesdropping on the classes and scaring the teachers. But don't tell.

Anyhoo, as you were and carry on.

All the classes moved online. But I still have the same amount of work to do. I am in the architecture program at the University of Maine at Augusta and just finished one final project today.

3) What is PG13 anyway?

Answer)

PG13 is based on the rating for movies. Here on the White Tower/Warders it means no directly sexual flirtations, one slip up of swearing will be tolerated, but nothing else, and no sexualised pictures. Members of the White Tower/Warders have families and sometimes check forums at work. The PG13 standard is meant to keep the forums same for all users.

I am extremely religious myself and will personally will be holding what would be considered a PG rating.

Thread-Hijacking is when two or three people monopolize a thread by ignoring other posts. Any more thn a page and you are definitely hijacking. Spam is posting a ridiculous amount of unwanted/off-topic content on a particular thread. Both of these things are very rude and should never be done in the first place. Exactly what hijacking and spaming look like depends on what group you are talking with. You can determine what is acceptable by looking at other threads to see how conversations flow in a certain group. When it comes to correction, listen to members of a higher rank and/or those whose home you are in.

Excellent! You have a pretty solid understanding, lets continue! 🙂

As Members of The White Tower, we are to serve. Part of the adventure is learning where we will serve, and it what capacity.

When you are ready, feel free to move forward to the next assignment.

Part Two: The Subgroups

So what we normally recommend is that you start a post in your class thread and go back and edit it over time, and that the format is as follows:

[Ajah/Guild]
--[Who is in charge]
--[general focus if there is one]
--[relevant post #1]
--[relevant post #2]

Rinse and repeat for at least five of the seven each Ajahs and Warders Guild.

Blue Ajah

Most used messenger

The general focus of the Blue Ajah is about being yourself and having fun. Especially fantasy and Sy-fy.

I am a nerd myself and I want to cosplay a orc. What do you guys think of PAX paint? Also what about bald caps?

Bookwise: Blue to me means freedom and information.  The freedom to choose what "cause" you want to pursue, and information (eyes and ears) to help you do it.

DM-wise: It means the ability to "let my freak flag fly" so to speak.  It means that I can come here to discuss, geek out, debate a variety of fandoms and never be judged/looked down upon for my geekiness, my choice of "side" of a fandom/ship, my obsession with a book series.  It means family -- where you can really be yourself and not have to worry about walking on eggshells or acting a certain way ?

Brown Ajah:

Leader

Blank

Focuss

In the books, the Brown Ajah is devoted to the study and collection of knowledge. Brown Sisters can often be found in the Great Library of the White Tower, which they administer, searching for new knowledge and subjects to study. Many of our own Brown Sisters and Brothers freely admit their addictions to books, books, and more books. There's a good probability that any given thread will at least mention books currently being read at some point, and several threads will be devoted entirely to books that are loved, coveted, and shared.

Browns may tend to wander the paths of random and specific learning and knowledge, science and art, and to research from topic to topic. No subject is immune from a curious Brown's delving. To get an idea of just some of the wide range of things we are interested in here at the Brown Ajah, have a look at this amazing Special Collections thread - feel free to get lost in some of the links there and to add your own!

Relevant Posts

clearly all of us here are here because we're fans of the written word. it is after all what this whole site is based on. and here in the Brown Ajah we especially love books and all they can hold. their promise of new insights, new worlds, new life and love the power that a page can hold. the wonder it can bring into our lives. the prodding of our minds and spirits that a new book inevitably holds.

what are you pondering right about now?

idle questions, musings, and even fleeting ideas hit every single one of us. they arent enough to warrant an all out study, but do take us down interesting paths of thought that can be amusing or provoking. this is the place to share yours, so whether you're wondering about the merits of current political ideologies or more simply how chairs would work if our knees bent the other way. share with us! we can either discuss and plumb the depths of an idea or just share your momentary amusement. but in all cases thoughts will be provoked!
