Today is the first day I've done anything other than work and sleep. I think I'm getting over this finally. I took a COVID test and it came back negative, but I'm not convinced. I think it may have been a false negative.

Anyway, about the class. So far, it's been pretty boring. We've been covering the history of Asian immigration to the US and (the not so boring part) Asian attitudes towards how to be a "good Asian girl or boy" growing up. Did you know that Asian girls in many cultures aren't allowed to associate with males other than their father? Many men view Asian girls as desirable, so it's for their protection, or so the story goes.

That’s good news! It was really cold here last night.

We got snow. And it's icy out too. Good thing we are on-line school and work from home. But I still got a call at 5:30 this morning to tell me it was a snow day for my son's school.

Lol, a snow day even though everyone is at home. Was it one of those robo calls?

On Tuesday, most of the state of Arizona got some snow. We didn't, but the town that I used to live in did, and it's not much different in elevation. There is still snow on the mountains.

This year parents could choose in person or on-line. We went with in-line. If number of cases are too high, then school goes "remote" for those who chose in person. I'm just hoping next year is better.

You all asked about what I am learning. A good chunk of what has been discussed lately is the emasculation of Asian men. Our culture doesn't view them as virile and attractive. At least according to my class.

Not attractive? Your class is making me suspicious now, but various perspectives are important.

So happy to hear the flu has passed. I know when I had it last year I'd never been so sick in my life.

(Sets out tea.) Hoping for everyone to feel better and stay well.

My class also discussed Asian American men in the porn industry, but I didn't read that article. There isn't time to read it all and, honestly, I couldn't care less about porn. But, clearly, they aren't considered unattractive by all of society or they wouldn't be in the porn industry at all, would they?

And now we're studying mail-order brides. We just finished studying women's roles in Asian families. Many Asian families try to stick to old-country ways. That was really interesting.

My older son is now engaged to an Asian woman! They plan to get married next year.

I can tell you that she is not traditional in her relationship with my son. They share household duties.

She’s a professional and educated working woman. I believe she will be traditional in many ways in the raising of children. They will do well in school. Lol. I see her leading there. She’s also very close to her family. I really enjoyed her parents.

I'm glad your son is so happy with her!

I'm done with the class. I wrote the final paper (8 pages) in one day! I'm learning to crank them out!  lol

Congrats to your son, Ryrin. I wish them much happiness.

Good job, Lily. Glad you were able to get that paper done so quickly, and that the class is over.

Work has been crazy for me, and i have training all nect week. Trying to be positive about it, but apprehensive that new skill set means more work and thus more stress. Trying to stay positive.

Congratulations to your son Ryrin!

*snuggles Dar'Jen* Hopefully your training goes well and you're able to find time to destress.

*hugs everyone else* Michael turns 3 next month and he's driving me batty. I'm so glad we have a backyard now so I can send him outside as it starts to get nicer out. It needs some major tlc though so that will keep me busy on my days off.

Right?! He's starting to be too heavy for me to carry  He asks for piggyback rides a lot now. _wolfbrother_ has started talking about names and such if we decide to have another one, which won't be for at least another year. I would like to be at my job for a year first before thinking about having another child. Michael has started to say he wants a little sister or brother though

My grandson is 4 and his mommy and daddy are about to have baby#2, also a boy. I think he'll be a big help. Four years is a good gap.
