Quote

[Verse 1: Marilyn Maxwell & Dean Martin]
I really can't stay (But, baby, it's cold outside)
I've got to away (But, baby, it's cold outside)
This evening has been (Been hoping that you'd drop in)
So very nice (I'll hold your hands, they're just like ice)
My mother will start worry (Beautiful, what's your hurry?)
My father will be pacing the floor (Listen to the fireplace roar)
So really I'd better scurry (Beautiful, please don't hurry)
But maybe just a half a drink more (Put some records on while I pour)
The neighbors might think (Baby, it's bad out there)
Say, what's in this drink? (No cab's to be had out there)
I wish I knew how (Your eyes are like starlight now)
To break this spell (I'll take your hat, your hair looks swell)
I ought to say "No, no, no, sir" (Mind if I move in closer?)
At least I'm gonna say that I tried (What's the sense in hurtin' my pride?)

[Chorus: Marilyn Maxwell, Dean Martin & Both]
I really can't stay
(Oh, baby, don't hold out)
Baby, it's cold outside

[Verse 2: Marilyn Maxwell & Dean Martin]
I simply must go (But, baby, it's cold outside)
The answer is no (But, baby, it's cold outside)
Your welcome has been (How lucky that you dropped in)
So nice and warm (Look out the window at the storm)
My sister will be suspicious (Gosh your lips look delicious)
My brother will be there at the door (Waves upon the tropical shore)
My maiden aunt's mind is vicious (Gosh your lips are delicious)
But maybe just a cigarette more (Never such a blizzard before)
I've gotta get home (But, baby, you'd freeze out there)
Say, lend me a coat (It's up to your knees out there)
You've really been grand (I thrill when you touch my hand)
But don't you see? (How can you do this thing to me?)
There's bound to be talk tomorrow (Think of my lifelong sorrow)
At least there will be plenty implied (If you got pneumonia and died)

[Chorus: Marilyn Maxwell, Dean Martin & Both]
I really can't stay
(Get over that old out)
Baby, it's cold
Baby, it's cold outside

That site also has a little area explaining the context of the rapey vibes of highlighted lyrics.

Within modern contexts, it's rather rapey for a lady to keep saying no with a billion excuses and a guy to keep persisting.

Shrugs

I hate going to retail that play Christmas songs 24/7. When I worked retail, that was tantamount to ear rape. So one less Christmas song? Whatever. At least it's not snoop dog doing jingle bells with actual dogs.

5:20

Every breath you take.

Total stalker song

Talking about a 16 year old girl that's his.

13 years old. Really Ted?

Quote

You're sweet, but you're just four feet
And you still got your baby teeth
You're too young, and I'm too well hung
Tonight I'm gonna rock you

Perhaps upon reflection many songs are creepier than we remember.
Perhaps we can still enjoy these songs, but also talk about how messed up many of their lyrics are in modern context.

Kinda like Huckleberry Finn. Don't censor it. But use talk about it, and the historical context, and to show the worlds progress since.

I would say it started when Nolder posted this. Disturbed was a different thread?

At best she is crazy.

I think that's too easy and simple though.

I prefer to think of her as a dangerous subversive.

No idea. What do I win for the song that induces murderous rage?

Why sharks of all things? I don't understand whoever makes these.

Also this one sucks compared to the family one.

There's a ton of them.
I just enjoy torturing co-workers that get songs stuck in their heads easy. This is one of them.

I would also like to note that "Baby is Cold out There" is only a "Christmas Song in that 1. it's set in the winter, and 2. it's become a standard in the collection of songs that radio stations play during the Christmas Season. The song itself does not even reference christmas, and is not religious in any context. It's a playful duet about dating/sex written in the 1950's and was facially meant to question the concept that sex after marriage was the only acceptable choice. It's about "hip" enlightened" urban dwellers attempting to decide if they are going to have sex with the female being coy about her wants and the male being funnily insistent.
