My family and I celebrate Hanukkah. We like to make Challah bread in the shape of a Menorah. We also really like to play games. Happy Hanukkah to those that celebrate it, as tonight is the 1st night. Happy Holidays to everyone!

What's your favorite activity during the holiday season?

Happy Hanukkah, Kaylee.

We celebrate Christmas. Some traditions have changed over the years due to various circumstances. There is one tradition that we have maintained. On Christmas Eve, the "children" get to open one present, the others on Christmas. A newer tradition my son and I started was a fun snack present. Last year we got mini donuts for my dad and snack crackers for my mom.

Happy Holidays to everyone.

I've always liked cookies--especially peanut butter cookies with a Hershey's kiss in the middle.  These have gone out of fashion lately because baking enthusiasm has waned, but it seems our youngest likes baking and we've tasked him with baking a MASSIVE amount of cookies.  And so, peanut butter cookies with Hershey's kisses are coming back.

We celebrate Christmas and Yule/Solstice and my favorite part of the season is the music. I am pretty darn good at baking and cookies, pumpkin bread and brownies are what we give to our neighbors, friends and loved ones. Once the scents and sounds are in the air, how can one not feel festive?

True... and the smell of fireplaces. Gives me warm fuzzies!

Kaylee, I remember visiting my bro in AZ during December and thinking that the cedar wood that people were burning in their fireplaces made the night air smell like salsa. Mmmmm!

It depends.

In Edinburgh, there's actually a "Christmas Market" that starts in late November and continues until Christmas--it happens in, I think it's called the Royal Botanical Garden?"  It's goes up and even has a Ferris wheel.    The most famous road in Edinburgh, the "Royal Mile," becomes covered in lights.  It's truly amazing to see.

New Orleans also gets covered in lights, although not to the extent Edinburgh is.  And so a favourite activity is just going through there to see everything.

My favorite part of the holidays is choosing gifts and enjoying watching them be opened. But I also enjoy baking and decorating. This year is a little sad because my daughter moved away and she and I did the baking together. But I'm going to try to maintain as many of our traditions as I can, even though the boys don't care as much as she did.

I'm starting that with my kids this year.
