I had an albino leaped gecko for about eight years and my parents could never figure out why I loved that little guy. They're more into bunnies and chickens

Bunnies and chickens? In Boston?

I wish. My family lives in California, where they breed Holland Lops as a hobby

You could, of course, give it another colour by mixing it with something else, but you can't make it transparent that way. The only way it could kind of become transparent is by making it very, very thin but that basically defeats any reason to use aluminium for whatever you're using it for (typically either isolation or because it's both light and strong).

But aluminium oxinitride isn't aluminium. There's oxygen and nitrogen in there. According to the article, it's only about a third aluminium.

Also a big difference: It's a ceramic, not a metal (like pure aluminium).

Looks like a pretty awesome material though.

That's why it's transparent aluminum.

Also, it's a joke and a Star Trek reference.

  • RP - LEGACY

(Eats one of the welcome brownies. Still good and yummy.)

Hope everyone is good. Just curious if there is someone I should check in with about my acceptance here, and access to boards. In the meantime, I will try to be patient, and eat brownies.
