what video games are you playing or really want to play?

Try 32 meg.

It runs fine on Windows 8.1

Civ 1 is only 2 meg.  Which is strange because I seem to remember it coming on like seven floppy disks.

But it crashes when I try to run it on 8.1.

Oh that's right, we bought the Windows 3.1 version but my dear sweet 386 couldn't quite handle it.  The DOS version was less of a resource leech.

meg is megabyte if I'm not very mistaken.

Anyways, Shad, are you okay with mailing Civ II to me? I'll PM my mail if so.

the original zip file was lost some time between 2004 and now, but if you just dump it all in the same spot and run the exe it worked fine for me

Here you go.

If that doesn't work for some reason, let me know and I'll dig around on some old hard drives for the original zip of it.

And I posted this in the wrong thread originally but part of me hopes that the final fantasy vii re release comes out on xbox one. But part of me hopes it doesn't. I worry about getting too caught up in it.

And I like minecraft too but I generally just like starting a new game so I can build a house and a farm lol

Somewhat unrelated but self-indulgent note, I have easy access to the soundtrack to pretty much every game ever made.  Looking for weird rare PC88 or MSX swag?  Hit me up.

I believe I actually have a CD with the original civ, the original colonization and two other games lying around somewhere. Might be misremembering though, about which games were on it exactly.

Its only real value is as a collector's piece, unless you want to add a floppy drive to your smartphone or something.

It's NOSTALGIA.

Also, there are ways to argue that those old games sometimes have better mechanics than newer games. If you prefer corruption over global happiness or maintenance costs, then you should look towards III or prior.

And apparently (though I've never seen it myself) in Civ II an empire could SPLIT if you took it's capital, due to civil war, which is quite amazing.

Also, Throne Room.

I googled Civ 2 and free copies of it are a dime a dozen.  Probably try grabbing a full ISO if what I sent you wasn't working.

bwahaha, I'm looking at some of the original packaging and it says "mouse recommended".

Oh the good old days.
