Official PSW Timeline Events

Recommended Posts

Various circumstances caused a lot of our Portal Stone World history to be lost. Staff changes, bad record keeping, loss of website access due to private ownership, DM Forum moves over the years, reset of the PSW Timeline, a lack of centralised oversight; these were all contributing factors to the situation the RP was in by 2007. We couldn't do anything about what had been lost so there came a point when a line had to be drawn and changes made.

 - Our first move to combat the information loss was to centralise everything. Websites, emails and archives were all brought under PSW control. When people leave or move on these days, the RP's information repositories remain available, accessible and protected. Links to these places are usually found in the sticky threads in each RP Group or those on The Welcome Inn board.

 - Our second move was to ensure good, thorough records and reports. All important decisions are now checked and approved by Admin.

 - All off site activity, for purposes other than record keeping, was terminated.

 - The use of NSW (non specific writer) characters was expanded. Every RP Group now has these for many key roles such as Ajah Heads, Wolfkin Council Members, Main Characters (Rand etc.) and Training Staff. Anyone from any RP Group can be allocated to write these characters with Staff permission.  The NSW's themselves belong to the RP Group, not the individual writers. This allows flexibility when people leave the PSW or suddenly run into temporary availablity issues due to real life.

 - This Official Timeline is the end result of all the Staff discussions, disagreements, and alternative solutions that didn't quite cut it. It is not perfect. It is never going to be perfect. It's intended to be a living document. This means we can alter it, update it and, if essential, move things around as we go along. If something doesn't make sense or isn't working or a returning old member reminds us of something vital... it's not the end of the world. Adjustments can be implemented.

Please understand that Dragonmount is 20 years old this year and the volume of detail involved in the PSW is enormous. Also bear in mind that we are a Portal Stone World. The PSW resembles the Books closely, it is not an exact replica. The Timeline is our reference point but it is always subject to updates. Names have been changed to protect the innocent. When in doubt, speak to your Group Staff for assistance.

Present Day

The PSW is currently in Book 11 (Knife of Dreams) and we'll be moving forward in line with the Books as much as possible from that point onwards.

The posts below are organised from the current year, 1001 NE, and run back to the Founding of the PSW Storyline in March of 998 NE and beyond - with events in reverse.

Each post covers a period of one year from January to December illustrated by a screenshot of the Timeline spreadsheet, followed by the written notes related to the numbered events contained in it.

The penultimate post covers the years 1 to 997 NE.

The final post covers the Wolfkin history which runs a very long way back before 1 NE

The White Tower history has details that haven't all been amalgamated, and there may be discrepanices, but it can be found on their website: WHITE TOWER TIMELINE

This is the link to view the original spreadsheet with the Timeline sheet and a secondary main character sheet (tab at the bottom) if you find it easier to read and scroll in Google Drive rather than on the boards (it is not editable, only viewable): OFFICIAL TIMELINE SPREADSHEET

Things To Keep In Mind

1. The Cleansing has happened but was never RP'd out. The BT reserve the right to retro that in the future.

2. Explanation of the fallout, in terms of explosives, from the Kidnapping of the Daughter of the Nine Moons RP arc can be read HERE.

3. The Manetheren arc which was mainly of importance to the Wolfkin stopped with the alliance between the Band, BT, Wolfkin and Aiel. There will be no attempt to set Manetheren up on the scale initially planned and there is no Queen of Manetheren. Adine Sedai is only Queen of Andor. None of the people involved in that are still active and it makes no impact on the current state of play.

4. We have no rebel Aes Sedai nor any Salidar within the PSW.

5. There is no Faile equivalent and Barin Aydaer ( our version of Perrin) hasn't yet made contact with the Wolfkin apart from his initial meeting with one man who explained about the changes happening to him.

68. All of the Chosen are charged in their meetings with the task of both informing their Mae'shadars and of spreading the word that the Council is now at absolute peace. The Council is approachable by all of the Dreadlords. This information is then made public within Dreadlord circles with the intention of passing the word to all, (whether by whisper or by screaming it from the rooftops), that the Shadow's peace is now upon anyone who seeks it out. If someone wants to swear to the Great Lord, they may approach "The Gate" and seek out a cleric to have their name taken as a new Child of the Shadow. On top of this, any channeler who comes will be taken into the warmth of the Dark and taught what they need to protect themselves from the minions of Light. This is all done in the name of the "Mistress of the Dark" to avoid giving any more information away about who the controlling force in the Shadow is than absolutely necessary.

67. Graendal and Asmodean's turn on the carpet - they are charged with continuing their work within the Seachan and told to direct their efforts, if possible, along the coastline from the location of the Seanchan landing up to Saldaea.

66. Next in are Slayer (spy and assassin), Be'lal and Moghedien. They are fetched by the messengers and given the job of ensuring that mainland forces keep trying to fight off the Seanchan.

65. Osan'gar and Cyndane are sent to bring Sammael and Semirhage back to the Fortress. On arrival, they are informed of the Nae'blis status and ordered to continue their quest in the Borderlands, serving as governors and guardians over the countries to be called "The Gate to the Blight".

The Black Tower hears rumours of what is going on in the Borderlands and they Travel in to try and help. Battle ensues in two locations; a field and in Fal Dara (might be Arabela). The skirmishes are somewhat balanced until the Chosen in command takes a direct hand in the action and engages in battle. The Black Tower is forced to retreat.

64. In the Gate, rebuilding and repairs are being done. Infrastructure is being put in place with town and regional leadership being assigned to Dreadlords. Shadowspawn are used to patrol the entire area along with human soldiers, but in a controlled way to prevent the Gate turning into another Malkier.

63. Following the Black Tower's defeat in Shienar, the Dragon Reborn orders them to play nice with the White Tower. After the madness and death of the M'Hael, Brent Enios, the new ruling body, the Guardian Council, sends a delegation to meet with the Amyrlin. A new agreement is struck between the Asha'man and the Red Ajah, both sides agreeing to bond each other as Warders. The agreement is secret at first but soon leaks out to the White Tower at large and bonds are allowed between Asha'man and Aes Sedai of any Ajah.

62. Black Tower attempts to retake Shienar and Arafel but fails and has to retreat.

61. Immediately after the Bowl of Winds is used, the group is attacked by Shadow forces, including several Black Sisters that were part of the Aes Sedai contingent. The Shadow tries to steal several of the items of Power, including the Bowl of Winds. Many losses occur on both sides of the fighting but eventually the Bowl of Winds is retrieved, a Black Sister captured and the rest of the Shadow forced to flee the scene.

60. A group of Aes Sedai, Windfinders and Kin use the Bowl of Winds to counter the Dark One's touch on the world and set the weather straight again.

998 NE

12. A small group of Aiel visit the Ogier to seek information concerning their Car'a'carn. They stay with the Ogier for a while, respecting the peace treaty that has held between their folk for a very long time.

11. Some pockets of Aiel have spread through the Borderlands. They are spotted, but it is noted that they do not engage in battle and that each group is small. Nevertheless, the Borderland rulers are less inclined to dismiss the rumours now and increase the level of alertness throughout their domains. Apart from some minor, isolated skirmishes there is no fighting.

10. Mariana and Logan follow a flase trail to Kandow and discover that the man they are following is a False Dragon. Logan wants to continue anyway but Mariana finds new information placing the true Dragon in Emond's Field. She reminds Logan that their quest is not to chase False Dragons and they set off south.

9. Pockets of Aiel are scattering through the Land, searching for the Car'a'carn. Inevitably random people encounter them and rumours begin to circulate about a second Aiel War. Kings and Queens dismiss these rumours are sheer fancy.

8. The Seanchan Empress decrees that the time has come to reclaim the lands of her forefathers. Five hundred ships sail out of Seanchan. A hundred of them sail ahead of the main fleet to scout the situation and begin retaking the territories if necessary. They are to report back to the Daughter of the Nine Moons, the official Heir to the Crystal Throne. The DotNM speaks with the authority of the Empress, may She live forever.

7. A group of Wise Ones send forth the first Aiel in search of the Car'a'carn.

6. Demandred gets killed by Be'lal a day after Dumai's Well (???!!!) Mae'shadar Caladesh visits the White Tower, terrorising them and becomes over confident. He is caught and stands trial. Rahvin gets killed. Asmodean attacks Semirhage and flees to Seanchan when the attempt fails.

5. The Band forms in the immediate aftermath of the Battle of Tarwin's Gap. It is formed from the remnants of the various mercenary groups that had joined the battle. Full details of the history and formation of the Band can be found HERE (LINKY).

4. After several annual attacks by the Shadow on Tarwin's Gap, the Lord of Shienar sends out a call to all men and women for help in pushing the Shadow back once and for all. They come. In their thousands. From all nations and all walks of life. Thousands die too, but their aim is achieved and the Shadow retreats into the Blight. Blood is shed, friendships formed, alliances kindled and the world awakens to the beginning of the end of an era.

997 - 1 NE

3. The Shadow settles down into the traditional secret society pattern; cells of agents scattered throughout the world, in all walks of life. Constant pressure is maintained on the Blightborder to distract attention from the more subversive work going on in the south, but no major action is taken until the Kingdom of Malkier becomes a strategic location. Trolloc forces overrun Malkier, bringing it under the control of the Shadow.

The Shadow Spreads

995 NE - (Early) False Dragon in Caemlyn

981 NE - Mandien is named as Clan Chief of the Dragonmount Aiel

2. Four of the seven Aiel Clans cross the Dragon Wall into the wetlands. They are seeking justice for Laman's grievous crime of cutting down the Avendoraldera sapling to make himself a throne. It puts an end to the peace the Aiel previously had with the Cairhienin people for hundreds of years. All the nations of the wetlands band against the Aiel but are unsuccessful. The Aiel do not stop until Laman is dead. Laman is killed at the Battle of the Shining Walls (Blood Snow) in Tar Valon. With Laman dead, the Aiel return to the Threefold Land.

976 to 978 NE - Aiel War

972 to 975 NE - Andor / Cairhien War

965 NE - A sapling cut from the Tree of Life is given to Cairhien

1. Malkier is swallowed up by the Blight. The King's infant son, along with 20 of the nation's best warriors, is sent south to safety so he can continue on and avenge the nation's death. Logan eventually becomes Warder to Mariana but never forgets his duty to his father or his people. He is the uncrowned King of Malkier. Remnants of the Malkieri people are scattered across the Borderlands, most giving up their Malkieri ways and integrating into whichever country they are seeking refuge in. The time will come for them to follow the Golden Crane once more. Should Logan ever choose to raise it.

950 NE - Fall of the Malkier Nation

A plague hits the growing community, killing many, including the Elders and the Pack Leader. Those who survive decide against raising a new Pack Leader and instead form a Council made up of the Heads of the four disciplines (WolfLover, Owen etc). (Pretty sure Owen said that he's about 27 now. The plague can't have happened long ago if he was already Head Ranger at the time and it was within the PSW history because it was used to reset the timeline. After Tarwin's Gap but before Rhya got to the Stedding which means longer than 2 years ago IC.) FINALISE DATE FOR THIS

(FY 1135 (guesstimate by historians) became 1 NE.)

1201 AB to 1350 AB / FY 1 - The Wolfkin scatter in the aftermath of Manetheren's destruction but Korum remains in his homeland, settling down and raising a family. His eldest daughter eventually settles in Aemon's Field. As the Trolloc Wars end and a new Age approaches, the Wolfkin begin to rise anew, gathering once more at the Stedding in the Mountains.

1200 AB - The Shadow sends two of its greatest Generals against Manetheren ... Bekkar'sorei and The Scourge. Their force is overwhelming and Manetheren, abandoned by its allies, is destroyed when Queen Eldrene uses the One Power in a last ditch attempt to remove the Shadow from her lands.

1196 AB - King Aemon (Korum's father) succeeds King Caar. Korum, now 28, has become Head Watcher with the Wolfkin.

1184 AB - King Caar ruled Manetheren for part of this period and Elreic was Pack Leader of the Stedding in the Mountains of Mist. King Caar called for Elreic, sending his golden eyed grandson, a 16 year old Korum, back to the Stedding with the Pack Leader. Friendship between Royal House and Wolfkin grows over the years. The Wolfkin community expands and the 4 Disciplines are created.

1000 AB to 1200 AB - Wolfkin fought where they could during the Trolloc Wars whilst trying to remain hidden. They moved gradually southwards, abandoning Stedding when they had to and relocating to those established in the south like the one in the Mountains of Mist.

During The Breaking and beyond - Wolfkin gathered in various Stedding around the world.
