State of the world.
I believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way.
So why is it the children of today are so inept at handling real life? Let's try an experiment.
Parents, let your child do thier own homework...if they get it wrong, they learn from the mistake.
Let your child get cut from an athletic team...if they weren't good enough, they learn what to practice at.
Let your child complete thier own craft projects...if it falls apart, they learn to use better glue.
Let them fail. It is the most proven form of learning available. If something doesn't go right, you look at why and fix it.
Kids today want, and expect, everything to be handed to them. I deal with 18-19-20 year olds who can't answer a simple question without consulting mommy and daddy. They have an overinflated sense of self-worth. It's one thing to tell them they CAN BE anything they want to be...it's another thing altogether to make them EXPECT TO BE. They need to understand the concept of working for something.
My 6 yr old asked to quit soccer because she couldn't score any goals. I simply explained to her that not everyone gets to score lots of goals. I told her about how some players pass the ball to the ones that score goals and that they had an important role too. That was after the first game of the season. Now after the third game, she has ZERO goals and 18 assists, and is again enjoying soccer.
At the current rate, it would appear that in only 15-20 more years, we will have completely lost common sense.
