I think that doing a WoT Podcast is great. Im a fairly newcomer to the wheel of time, and its great to actually hear someone talk about it as opposed to reading posts, its far more engaging.

Mat is my favorite character, ever since he beat Gawyn & Gallad.

I enjoyed listening to the pod cast, but I kept wanting to correct stuff. Guess I will have to apply for third spot. It will be tough to get the kids to behave themselves long enough to do it. I too find Mat engaging. I liked him from the start, all three of them go well together. As Rand loses his ablity to find joy, Perrin is tormented by his own action, Mat has started to be the voice of reason and that is a very fine irony.

Don't be afraid to state an opinion. Both of you will say something and then say "I may be way off on that one". One of the beauties of the Wheel of Time is that there is so much happening that is either off screen or that we have not come to in the time line. It is ok to to say what you think, or what the majority of the forums thinks. Jayson - please speak up...Carrie's voice is much louder and I am not sure if it is your connection, but it would be better if you spoke up. In the news section, you basically said go see the news section on dragonmount.com, instead of discussing what is in the news section. I thought the character (Mat) section of the podcast was weak. Carrie - you were unsure if Mat was a reluctant hero. Whether or not he is, I think you need to state what you believe. I thought you relied on Jayson too much in that segment. I think when a character is discussed, both of you should talk about characteristics of the character that people like/dislike as well as how you think a prophecy about the character (if there is one) will come true and even a favorite scene with the character.

I am not trying to be too critical and I realize that this is your second podcast, but I hope you take my comments (as well as anyone else's) and make it a more fluid and better show.

It's prophesized that he will "bind the nine moons to serve him" just because there is some widespread crackhead belief; the seanchan hold that he will, doesnt mean it will happen. If i recall correctly Ishy sent back corrupted forms of the prophesies with the fleet hawkwing sent across the aryth ocean. sooooo why on earth would rand bow down to those who serve him just because they want him to??

Carrie, on the previous post someone said you sounded like Parsi Hilton, this is harsh, but he does have a point. Try to be abit more commanding and less 'girl next door' otherwise very good show, which will no doubt get better and better with more practise

I wanted to help y’all out a with a format for the show. First off, I don’t know if you have a producer or a committee that comes up with the topics, but I think the following format might work well for the show. Jayson…I said in an earlier post that your not speaking that loudly, and while still true, I got new speakers, which allowed me to hear you. However, I still think your microphone or connection is not as good as Carrie’s which causes your voice to be lower and having to turn up and down the volume when each of you speak. It may be that you are not speaking directly into the microphone every time.

My personal comments on the character discussion: I think it is important that you make a stand regarding what you think. If you ever watch PTI (Pardon the Interruption) on ESPN, you will notice that Tony Kornheiser and Mike Wilbon almost always stand on one side of the fence and a lot of times are on other sides of the fence. It is ok to be wishy washy and to agree, but I think more often than not, it is better to be firm with your opinions. Since you know what the topics are going to be prior to the podcast, make sure you do your research (not re-reading the books, but looking at the various websites that have wealth of information) so that you can take a stand. Remember, there is no right or wrong.

IV. Fan Questions

A. Contact information for questions.

B. Pick interesting questions if there are a fair number of questions. Also, try to pick a question related to today’s topic(s).

C. I don’t believe the questions are live, so make sure you can answer the question, or put it off for a week or two until you think you have an answer. Don’t be afraid to use the forums as a sounding board. If the questions are live, and you can’t answer it, go back to section II - Follow-Up.

I am not expecting you to use this entire outline (or any of it), although I think it is a good starting point. I don’t know if you grasp the full significance of what this podcast will do. If the podcast becomes successful, I think both of you (and the third person) will become leading authorites in the Wheel of Time community, so it is important to be prepared. I think it is a waste of everyone’s time to write a script, but it is more efficient to do an outline and have key areas written down to ensure you cover it throughout the podcast.

I would be happy to help out, if possible and hope that the podcast becomes successful. One other piece of advice: I don’t believe this podcast is desgined soley for Dragonmount.com, so it is important to cite other sites throughout the podcast.

Jayson, I'd suggest using a popfilter to help reduce the loud "P" sounds and such while speaking.

I always thought that if my name was to be pronounced mistakenly, it would be something like "fro-waks" (in french) but Jayson was way off. My friends pronounce it "froyks."

Anyway, what's more important is the character's name pronunciations. Everytime I discuss the book with someone else, the names are pronounced differently so I'm not surprised with Jayson's pronunciation of Cadsuane's name. Although I think he's wrong with this one. The name's pronunciations are written on the last pages of the books and unless I'm reading it wrong....

I don't think it's such a big deal but I know when I'll be rereading the books, I'll be wondering how the names are pronounced.

i think rand will kneel to the crystal thron. it would be good for his big head... and remember mins veiwing, Castine (dont have the book infront of me so sorry for the spelling) is sapposed to teach him something. humility, tears and laughter. i think that might have something to do with it.

In this cast you talk about what perrin will be doing in the last battle.

Could it be that the battle will also be faught in Tel'aran'rhiod with perin fighting with the wolves?

Regarding the pronunciation of names have you ever given any thought to listening to the audio books? I read all the books first and then came accross the audio books. I found that the pronunciations used in the audio books seem like they fit better. I cant explain why.
