Sometimes even when you've fought your best....

It is with great sadness that I tell you that the Dragon is gone. RJ left us today at 2:45 PM. He fought a valiant fight against this most horrid disease. In the end, he left peacefully and in no pain. In the years he had fought this, he taught me much about living and about facing death. He never waivered in his faith, nor questioned our God's timing. I could not possibly be more proud of anyone. I am eternally grateful for the time that I had with him on this earth and look forward to our reunion, though as I told him this afternoon, not yet. I love you bubba.

Our beloved Harriet was at his side through the entire fight and to the end. The last words from his mouth were to tell her that he loved her.

Thank each and everyone of you for your prayers and support through this ordeal. He knew you were there. Harriet reminded him today that she was very proud of the many lives he had touched through his work. We've all felt the love that you've been sending my brother/cousin. Please keep it coming as our Harriet could use the support.

Jason will be posting funeral arrangements.

My sincerest thanks.

Peace and Light be with each of you,

Wilson

To Catalyst: Never, never loose faith. RJ did not. Harriet hasn't. I haven't. Going through what we have, our faith is only strengthened. Besides, if God didn't exist, we would have never had Jim. We did. God does. Remember my Brother/Cousin, my friend, think of him fondly and glorify God's name.

Editor's Note:

The entire staff of Dragonmount.com would like to extend its most deepest sympathies to Robert Jordan's family. He touched all of our lives in some way and we wish him the rest and peace he deserves. We will be posting information in the near future about where you can send condolences. Please check the News Section for these updates.

RJ will be sorely missed. My heart goes out to Harriet, Wilson and all of your family. Please remember, that in time the sadness will become less, even though the memory never fades.

Condolances from Finland,

When I heard this I was stunned. I never knew RJ, but his work touched my life.

I'm sad that he's gone but death is not the end.

Godspeed, sir.

My first thoughts were simply "Sh*t, that sucks." I don't know how I can express my

thoughts any better than that. To Harriet and Wilson, I'm sorry for your loss. I've lost

family members before their time, and it sucks big time. Only suggestions (not that you need them) are to celebrate the happy times and memories that he gave you (and millions of us). That is what he would want the most.

My second thought, selfishly, was about book 12. But after thinking about it a bit more, I honestly don't want it to be completed. No matter who writes book 12, it won't be the same. It just won't. I know Harriet and the other editors know the book inside and out, along with how he wanted it to end, but there WILL be something missing. So my request, let it stop at book 11. Please do not finish the book.

My prayers (such as they are) are with the family. May the Creator shine on you for all of eternity.

I will forever treasure your work.

Thank you for bringing to life the most incredibly detailed and believable fantasy world I've ever seen.

My one brief meeting with you will forever rank among the high points of my life.

I hope you found what you were looking for.

There was more than one casualty here. Rand, Perrin and Mat, and countless others, all perished when James passed on after his valiant battle. Oh, their past deeds still survive as long as one book exists and loving hands turn the pages but their future has grown dark and impenetrable.

I know James' immediate family has lost more than we readers could ever imagine and my condolences go out to all of them. Our loss will never match yours but we feel the loss non-the-less.

Mayhap the boys will rise from the darkness and we will walk in their shoes one more time and in it there will be the essence of the creator who invited us into his world and fate closed the door on prematurely. Even if we never get this it will have been better to have read and loved.. then to have never read at all. Thank you so much for sharing your world with us James.

I trust you are in a better place with the true Creator.

You have my condolences, it is a sad day for literature when one of the greatest fantasy novelists pass away. And even though we have never met, rj inspired me by how he lived, how he never gave in. He was, an always will be my biggest role-model, and if I am able to achieve a small part of what he was able to, i will be happy.

Much love to everyone effected by this tragic event

You know, somewhere up there RJ is looking down and smiling at us.

The suffering is now over and the pain is gone, now he's home where he belongs.

He will be sorely missed as his was an imagination that comes along once in a generation. RJ opened doors to places that we could never go on our own and for that I thank him.

When my time comes I hope to see him in the clouds and have a chat on this and that, but until that day theres but one thing to say, "God bless you RJ, may the Lord speed your way."

A wonderful person whose perseverance and positive attitude are an inspiration to so many others in suffering. A wonderful writer whose work touched and changed the lives of so many people. This is a tragic loss, and we share your sorrow greatly. I don't know if there is anyone else i can think of whose imagination and wit and character were so clearly and powerfully exhibited in the written word.

Thank you for sharing your life with us, RJ.

I don't know if he knew how apt the title. "A Memory of Light," was, but I know that in the years to come I will remember this day everytime I read one of his books. There is an enduring legacy here that is an achievment that anyone could be proud of. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, and will endure as one of the greatest authors of this genre.

God, this is hard! Through his works he has been such a part of my life I didn't realize until today.

I first read Eye of the World in 1989 after just having graduated from High School. I am now 36 and happily married. What a grand time we have had together.

God bless you RJ and your whole family!

You will be missed by many!

My heart goes out, along with my prayers, to Harriet and the entire family. He was a man amongst men, and a storyteller like no other in his generation. His light will live on amongst his accomplishments, as a great man of literature. Apart from his life, we could ask for no less.

May God Bless and Keep You.
