Catching up
Since my last post, I've gotten even busier with work which has cut down on my reading time. However, I did give up on Fortress in the Eye of Time almost halfway through it. I had heard good things about the book and CJ Cherryh, but I simply couldn't get hooked into it. I may try it at some other time, but I've moved on for now.
I did read the short story version of New Spring that was posted in Legends. I simply don't get much out of this story. Part of the reason is that this was intended as the first of three prequels for WOT. The full-length book version of New Spring has some decent insights with Lan, Moiraine and Siuan. However, I've just never been a fan of this book, and always leaves me shrugging my shoulders and saying "Meh" when I've re-read it.
I've decided that along with my WOT re-read, I am going to attempt to read the entire Riftwar Cycle by Raymond Feist as well, in anticipation of the last book (Magician's End) being released next year. Yes, we are talking approximately 30 books but I'm ready for a full-on fantasy book reading kick. I'm also going to read A Clash of Kings (Book 2 of Song of Ice and Fire) in anticipation of HBO's 2nd season for Game of Thrones kicking off in a few weeks.
