Our first week in Minneapolis
We arrived in Minneapolis last Monday. The very same day George Floyd was murdered by the cops here. We are trying to navigate the Twin Cities while the country is on fire. The 3rd Precinct Building was burned to the ground not 6 miles from where we are. We are staying across the street from The Mall of America. The Mall should have opened yesterday. Instead, no one knows when it will.
I have landed several jobs and one on-going job opportunity in downtown Minneapolis. The main stress in my life is finding an apartment.
The natural thought for us was to get the hell out of town as the riots were happening. I think we will stay. We are looking for a one bedroom in the suburbs or in near-by Hudson, Wisconsin.
We are looking at moving June 21st. Which is also my birthday.
I refuse to give in to despair. Anxiety , depression and anger have filled me up over the past two months. We believed that moving away from Michigan would be better. I hope that it is still going to be better here. I like the scenery. I really like the town of Hudson and the attitude of people there.
